Your first session

Start with one goal you care about. By the end of this session, you should have something you can review: a researched option, a draft, or a proposed next step.

1. Open Proxy

Request early access if you do not have access yet. Open Proxy on your host computer and complete the first-run setup. The current native host app runs on macOS. Once it is connected, Proxy Mobile and web access let you continue on other devices; see devices.

You need one working agent to begin. Use an agent available in your Roster, the list of agents you can work with. If it needs a model or credentials, finish that setup first. Models and credits explains the available options, and Roster explains agent configuration.

2. Tell it what you want to change

Open a chat with your Proxy, or start a Party and add your chosen agent. Give it a goal and the constraints that matter. For example:

I want to play my first DJ set in Brooklyn. I have a 30-minute mix, I am free on Thursday evenings, and I can spend up to $50. Find suitable open-deck nights and prepare a venue inquiry for me to review.

Or start with a job change:

I want to leave my current job. Help me compare possible roles, work out what I need to prepare, and choose one useful step for this week.

Connect a tool or service when the work needs it. For example, current venue research needs a web-capable tool. Integrations explains how to connect tools and give an agent access to them.

3. Keep the useful context

Ask your Proxy to record the goal and its constraints in your Life Map. Relevant people, files, deadlines, and decisions can stay connected to that goal, so the next conversation can build on this one.

Review what was saved and correct anything that is wrong. A conversation and a saved Life Map entry are different things: check that the context you want to keep is actually in the map.

4. Review the Move

Ask for the next step as a Move. For the DJ example, that could be a proposed venue, its signup requirements, and a draft inquiry. Review the sources, recipient, exact message, and any cost before approving a send.

You can approve, reject, defer, or ask for changes. Available actions depend on the tools you have connected. A Move can also present a draft for you to use yourself.

5. Check what happened

Approval records your decision. Completion records whether the work finished. Check the result, then keep the outcome and any new commitments with the goal in your Life Map. That gives your Proxy a useful starting point next time.

Continue from your phone

Connect Proxy Mobile to review conversations and Moves away from your desk. Your host needs to remain running and connected. You can also set up a Proxy address for remote access and approved connections with people and apps.
